Joshua, or Diesel 10 is a prototype Class 42 "Warship" diesel engine, who visited the North Western Region on a trial.
Biography[]
Joshua was a prototype diesel who arrived on Sodor. He primarily worked on the mainline, but he had a few issues with his engine and did not grow fond of the steam engines at first, especially Kate and James. However, after can accident with a lorry, he admitted his mistake of his vacuum brakes always being there to keep him safe and apologized to the engines. As of now, he is no longer on the island and was assigned to other work elsewhere.

Joshua is painted in ochre with tan stripes along his sides, his buffers are painted in dark brown.

Joshua is based on a BR Class 42 diesel-hydraulic. All but two members of the class were named after Royal Navy warships, so they, and the similar Class 43, were nicknamed "Warships". Two of these engines are preserved.
Trivia[]
- In the Short Rivalry, Joshua is voiced by Andrew Leago.
- The name "Joshua" (or rather his nickname "Josh") was first revealed in the Sodor Short Rivalry, although the descriptions of both Rivalry and Mistake still refer to him as "Diesel 10".
- In his official debut in the Stories of Sodor, he is without his claw “Pinchy”. Victor said he removed this because he found this design very silly, but iconic.
- Victor has recently implied he will return with his claw and become a villain as he has been shown in nearly all forms of Thomas media.
